Kattikloo yarn is created primarily with natural plant dyes and occasionally with low impact, heavy metal free, eco-dyes. Yarns are dyed in small batches of 10-15 hanks. This keeps the colors alive and fluid; with enough in each batch for several projects, and enough change that we can love the creative side of what we do.
We carefully label after dyeing, so you will always receive fibers from one dye lot. We love dyeing with natural plant materials, and with as many locally growing plants as possible. This has been a creative passion for over 15 years. Kattikloo is located on Salt Spring Island, living a dream to create a dyers garden where visitors can enjoy our beautiful surroundings, our plants and our colors.
In some collections, we do like an extra “shot” of color, and on those dyeing days we use low impact, heavy metal free, professional acid dyes. Kattikloo values our environment, using sustainable, low impact dyestuffs and a low use water dyeing and rinsing system.
